| What Nature meant us Brave idolatry | B |
| Which can conceive a hero No deceit | A |
| No knowledge taught by unrelenting years | C |
| Can quench this fierce untamable desire | D |
| We know that what we long for once achieved | E |
| Will cease to satisfy Be still our fears | C |
| If what we worship fail us still the fire | D |
| Burns on and it is much to have believed | E |
