Fatigue Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD AEAE CFCF

Stupefy my heart to every day's monotonyA
Seal up my eyes I would not look so farB
Chasten my steps to peaceful regularityA
Bow down my head lest I behold a starB
-
Fill my days with work a thousand calm necessitiesC
Leaving no moment to consecrate to hopeD
Girdle my thoughts within the dull circumferencesC
Of facts which form the actual in one short hour's scopeD
-
Give me dreamless sleep and loose night's power over meA
Shut my ears to sounds only tumultuous thenE
Bid Fancy slumber and steal away its potencyA
Or Nature wakes and strives to live againE
-
Let each day pass well ordered in its usefulnessC
Unlit by sunshine unscarred by stormF
Dower me with strength and curb all foolish eagernessC
The law exacts obedience Instruct I will conformF
