A Coloured Print By Shokei Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFGFEE HIJIKK LMNMOO| It winds along the face of a cliff | A |
| This path which I long to explore | B |
| And over it dashes a waterfall | C |
| And the air is full of the roar | B |
| And the thunderous voice of waters which sweep | D |
| In a silver torrent over some steep | D |
| - | |
| It clears the path with a mighty bound | E |
| And tumbles below and away | F |
| And the trees and the bushes which grow in the rocks | G |
| Are wet with its jewelled spray | F |
| The air is misty and heavy with sound | E |
| And small wet wildflowers star the ground | E |
| - | |
| Oh The dampness is very good to smell | H |
| And the path is soft to tread | I |
| And beyond the fall it winds up and on | J |
| While little streamlets thread | I |
| Their own meandering way down the hill | K |
| Each singing its own little song until | K |
| - | |
| I forget that 't is only a pictured path | L |
| And I hear the water and wind | M |
| And look through the mist and strain my eyes | N |
| To see what there is behind | M |
| For it must lead to a happy land | O |
| This little path by a waterfall spanned | O |
