A Coloured Print By Shokei Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFGFEE HIJIKK LMNMOO

It winds along the face of a cliffA
This path which I long to exploreB
And over it dashes a waterfallC
And the air is full of the roarB
And the thunderous voice of waters which sweepD
In a silver torrent over some steepD
-
It clears the path with a mighty boundE
And tumbles below and awayF
And the trees and the bushes which grow in the rocksG
Are wet with its jewelled sprayF
The air is misty and heavy with soundE
And small wet wildflowers star the groundE
-
Oh The dampness is very good to smellH
And the path is soft to treadI
And beyond the fall it winds up and onJ
While little streamlets threadI
Their own meandering way down the hillK
Each singing its own little song untilK
-
I forget that 't is only a pictured pathL
And I hear the water and windM
And look through the mist and strain my eyesN
To see what there is behindM
For it must lead to a happy landO
This little path by a waterfall spannedO
