To Vernon Lee Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDD CCD

On Bellosguardo when the year was youngA
We wandered seeking for the daffodilB
And dark anemone whose purples fillB
The peasant's plot between the corn shoots sprungA
-
Over the grey low wall the olive flungA
Her deeper greyness far off hill on hillB
Sloped to the sky which pearly pale and stillB
Above the large and luminous landscape hungA
-
A snowy blackthorn flowered beyond my reachC
You broke a branch and gave it to me thereD
I found for you a scarlet blossom rareD
-
Thereby ran on of Art and Life our speechC
And of the gifts the gods had given to eachC
Hope unto you and unto me DespairD
