The Sequel To A Reminiscence Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHI JKJJK

Not in the street and not in the squareA
The street and square where you went and cameB
With shuttered casement your house stands bareA
Men hush their voice when they speak your nameB
-
I too can play at the vain pretenceC
Can feign you dead while a voice sounds clearD
In the inmost depths of my heart Go henceC
Go find your friend who is far from hereE
-
Not here but somewhere where I can reachF
Can a man with motion hearing and sightG
And a thought that answered my thought and speechF
Be utterly lost and vanished quiteG
-
Whose hand was warm in my hand last weekH
My heart beat fast as I neared the gateI
Was it this I had come to seekH
A stone that stared with your name and dateI
-
A hideous turfless fresh made moundJ
A silence more cold than the wind that blewK
What had I lost and what had I foundJ
My flowers that mocked me fell to the groundJ
Then and then only my spirit knewK
