The Last Judgment Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIJJ KKLM NN

With beating heart and lagging feetA
Lord I approach the Judgment seatA
All bring hither the fruits of toilB
Measures of wheat and measures of oilB
-
Gold and jewels and precious wineC
No hands bare like these hands of mineC
The treasure I have nor weighs nor gleamsD
Lord I can bring you only dreamsD
-
In days of spring when my blood ran highE
I lay in the grass and looked at the skyE
And dreamed that my love lay by my sideF
My love was false and then she diedF
-
All the heat of the summer throughG
I dreamed she lived that her heart was trueG
Throughout the hours of the day I sleptH
But woke in the night at times and weptH
-
The nights and days they went and cameI
I lay in shadow and dreamed of fameI
And heard men passing the lonely placeJ
Who marked me not and my hidden faceJ
-
My strength waxed faint my hair grew greyK
Nothing but dreams by night and dayK
Some men sicken with wine and foodL
I starved on dreams and found them goodM
-
-
-
This is the tale I have to tellN
Show the fellow the way to hellN
