Mein Herz mein Herz ist traurigA
Doch lustig leuchtet der MaiB
-
-
There's May amid the meadowsC
There's May amid the treesD
Her May time note the cuckooA
Sends forth upon the breezeD
-
Above the rippling riverE
May swallows skim and dartF
November and DecemberE
Keep watch within my heartF
-
The spring breathes in the breezesG
The woods with wood notes ringA
And all the budding hedgerowsG
Are fragrant of the springA
-
In secret silent placesG
The live green things upstartF
Ice bound ice crown'd dwells winterE
For ever in my heartF
-
Upon the bridge I lingerE
Near where the lime trees growH
Above swart birds are circlingA
Beneath the stream runs slowH
-
A stripling and a maidenI
Come wand'ring up the wayJ
His eyes are glad with springtimeK
Her face is fair with MayJ
-
Of warmth the sun and sweetnessG
All nature takes a partF
The ice of all the agesG
Weighs down upon my heartF
