Presentiment Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE DGGD HIIH

WITH saintly grace and reverent treadA
She walked among the graves with meB
Her every footfall seemed to beB
A benediction on the deadA
-
The guardian spirit of the placeC
She seemed and I some ghost forlornD
Surprised by the untimely mornD
She made with her resplendent faceC
-
Moved by some waywardness of willE
Three paces from the path apartF
She stepped and stood my prescient heartF
Was stricken with a passing chillE
-
My child lore of the years agoneD
Remembering I smiled and thoughtG
Who shudders suddenly at naughtG
His grave is being trod uponD
-
But now I know that it was moreH
Than idle fancy O my sweetI
I did not know such little feetI
Could make a buried heart so soreH
