Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDDE FGFG DDD HDHD EAEA IEIE

Republicans think Jonas BimmA
A Democrat gone madB
And Democrats consider himA
Republican and badB
-
The Tough reviles him as a DudeC
And gives it him right hotD
The Dude condemns his crassitudeD
And calls him sans culottesE
-
Derided as an AnglophileF
By Anglophobes forsoothG
As Anglophobe he feels the whileF
The Anglophilic toothG
-
The Churchman calls him AtheistD
The Atheists rough shodD
Have ridden o'er him long and hissedD
'The wretch believes in God '-
-
The Saints whom clergymen we callH
Would kill him if they couldD
The Sinners scientists and allH
Complain that he is goodD
-
All men deplore the differenceE
Between themselves and himA
And all devise expedientsE
For paining Jonas BimmA
-
I too with wild demoniac gleeI
Would put out both his eyesE
For Mr Bimm appears to meI
Insufferably wiseE
