Laus Lucis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDBBEEFFBBGHIIBB JJKK

Each to his taste some men prefer to playA
At mystery as others at piquetB
Some sit in mystic meditation someC
Parade the street with tambourine and drumC
One studies to decipher ancient loreD
Which proving stuff he studies all the moreD
Another swears that learning is but goodB
To darken things already understoodB
Then writes upon Simplicity so wellE
That none agree on what he wants to tellE
And future ages will declare his penF
Inspired by gods with messages to menF
To found an ancient order those devoteB
Their time with ritual regalia goatB
Blankets for tossing chairs of little easeG
And all the modern inconveniencesH
These saner frown upon unmeaning ritesI
And go to church for rational delightsI
So all are suited shallow and profoundB
The prophets prosper and the world goes roundB
For me unread in the occult I'm fainJ
To damn all mysteries alike as vainJ
Spurn the obscure and base my faith uponK
The Revelations of the good St JohnK
