James L. Flood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDD

As oft it happens in the youth of dayA
That mists obscure the sun's imperfect rayA
Who as he's mounting to the dome's extremeB
Smites and dispels them with a steeper beamB
So you the vapors that begirt your birthC
Consumed and manifested all your worthC
But still one early vice obstructs the lightD
And sullies all the visible and brightD
Display of mind and character You writeD
