Consolation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF

Little's the good to sit and grieveA
Because the serpent tempted EveA
Better to wipe your eyes and takeB
A club and go out and kill a snakeB
-
What do you gain by cursing NickC
For playing her such a scurvy trickC
Better go out and some villain findD
Who serves the devil and beat him blindD
-
But if you prefer as I suspectE
To philosophize why then reflectE
If the cunning rascal upon the limbF
Hadn't tempted her she'd have tempted himF
