Authority Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIIJJ J

'Authority authority ' they shoutA
Whose minds not large enough to hold a doubtA
Some chance opinion ever entertainB
By dogma billeted upon their brainB
'Ha ' they exclaim with choreatic gleeC
'Here's Dabster if you won't give in to meC
Dabster sir Dabster to whom all men lookD
With reverence ' The fellow wrote a bookD
It matters not that many another wightE
Has thought more deeply could more wisely writeE
On t' other side that you yourself possessF
Knowledge where Dabster did but faintly guessF
God help you if ambitious to persuadeG
The fools who take opinion ready madeG
And 'recognize authorities ' Be sureH
No tittle of their folly they'll abjureH
For all that you can say But write it downI
Publish and die and get a great renownI
Faith how they'll snap it up misread misquoteJ
Swear that they had a hand in all you wroteJ
And ride your fame like monkeys on a goatJ
