Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDE EFFG CCHHII J A HHKL

Editor Owen of San JoseA
Commonly known as 'our friend J J 'B
Weary of scribbling for daily breadC
Weary of writing what nobody readC
Slept one day at his desk and dreamedD
That an angel before him stood and beamedD
With compassionate eyes upon him thereE
-
Editor Owen is not so fairE
In feature expression form or limbF
But glances like that are familiar to himF
And so to arrive by the shortest routeG
At his visitor's will he said simply 'Toot '-
'Editor Owen ' the angel saidC
'Scribble no more for your daily breadC
Your intellect staggers and falls and bleedsH
Weary of writing what nobody readsH
Eschew now the quill in the coming yearsI
Homilize man through his idle earsI
Go lecture ' 'Just what I intended to do '-
Said Owen The angel looked pained and flewJ
-
Editor Owen of San JoseA
Commonly known as 'our friend J J '-
Scribbling no more to supply his needsH
Weary of writing what nobody readsH
Passes of life each golden yearK
Speaking what nobody comes to hearL
