The which he slowly loadedD
When bang I know not how it couldC
But sure the charge explodedD

Yes to that veteran's surpriseE
The gun went off sublimelyF
And both his busy arms likewiseE
Went off with it untimelyF

Then said that gunner to his mateG
He was from BallyshannonA
'Bedad the sun's a minute lateG
Accardin' to this cannon '-
