A Jack-at-all-views Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBADD ECECCEFG HIHIIHJJ KLKLLK M

So Estee you are still alive I thoughtA
That you had died and were a blessed ghostB
I know at least your coffin once was boughtC
With Railroad money and 'twas said by mostB
Historians that Stanford made a boastB
The seller 'threw you in ' That goes for naughtA
Man takes delight in fancy's fine inventionsD
And woman too 'tis said if they are French onesD
-
Do you remember Estee ah 'twas longE
And long ago how fierce you grew and hotC
When anything impeded the straight strongE
Wild sweep of the great billow you had gotC
Atop of like a swimmer bold Great ScottC
How fine your wavemanship How loud your songE
Of 'Down with railroads ' When the wave subsidedF
And left you stranded you were much dividedG
-
Then for a time you were content to wadeH
The waters of the 'robber barons'' moatI
To fetch and carry was your humble tradeH
And ferry Stanford over in a boatI
Well paid if he bestowed the kindly groatI
And spoke you fair and called you pretty maidH
And when his stomach seemed a bit unsteadyJ
You got your serviceable basin readyJ
-
Strange man how odd to see you smug and spruceK
There at Chicago burrowed in a ChairL
Not made to measure and a deal too looseK
And see you lift your little arm and swearL
Democracy shall be no more If it's a fairL
And civil question and not too abstruseK
Were you elected as a 'robber baron '-
Or as a Communist whose teeth had hair onM
