A Caller Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDA EFEEG HIHIJ KLKLM NONOP

'Why Goldenson you're looking very well 'A
Said Death as strolling through the County JailB
He entered that serene assassin's cellC
And hung his hat and coat upon a nailB
'I think that life in this secluded spotD
Agrees with men of your trade does it not 'A
-
'Well yes ' said Goldenson 'I can't complainE
Life anywhere provided it is mineF
Agrees with me but I observe with painE
That still the people murmur and repineE
It hurts their sense of harmony no doubtG
To see a persecuted man grow stout '-
-
'O no 'tis not your growing stout ' said DeathH
'Which makes these malcontents complain and scoldI
They like you to be somehow scant of breathH
What they object to is your growing oldI
And though indifferent to lean or fatJ
I don't myself entirely favor that '-
-
With brows that met above the orbs beneathK
And nose that like a soaring hawk appearedL
And lifted lip uncovering his teethK
The Mamikellikiller coldly sneeredL
'O so you don't Well how will you assuageM
Your spongy passion for the blood of age '-
-
Death with a clattering convulsion drewN
His coat on hatted his unmeated powO
Unbarred the door and stepping partly throughN
Turned and made answer 'I will show you howO
I'm going to the Bench you call SupremeP
And tap the old women who sit there and dream '-
