Feb. 29, 1958 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFCGHIJJJKCLCIIM NJNKCCCOPCICQRCCISOJ I

Last nite I dreamed of T S EliotA
welcoming me to the land of dreamB
Sofas couches fog in EnglandC
Tea in his digs Chelsea rainbowsD
curtains on his windows fog seeping inE
the chimney but a nice warm houseF
and an incredibly sweet hooknosedC
Eliot he loved me put me upG
gave me a couch to sleep onH
conversed kindly took me seriousI
asked my opinion on MayakovskyJ
I read him Corso Creeley KerouacJ
advised Burroughs Olson HunckeJ
the bearded lady in the Zoo theK
intelligent puma in Mexico CityC
chorus boys from ZanzibarL
who chanted in wornout polygotC
Swahili and the rippling rythymsI
of Ma Rainey and Vachel LindsayI
On the Isle of the QueenM
we had a long evening's conversationN
Then he tucked me in my longJ
red underwear under a silkenN
blanket by the fire on the sofaK
gave me English HottieC
and went off sadly to his bedC
Saying ah Ginsberg I am gladC
to have met a fine young man like youO
At last I woke ashamed of myselfP
Is he that good and kind Am I that greatC
What's my motive dreaming hisI
manna What English DepartmentC
would that impress What failureQ
to be perfect prophet's made up hereR
I dream of my kindness to T S EliotC
wanting to be a historical poetC
and share in his finance of ImageryI
overambitious dream of eccentric boyS
God forbid my evil dreams come trueO
Last nite I dreamed of Allen GinsbergJ
T S Eliot would've been ashamed of meI
