| and trailing sarsaparilla swung | F |
| it's purple glory everywhere | E |

| Then curled within a hollow stump | G |
| down in a gully dim and deep | H |
| we held our breaths with awe to find | I |
| four dingo puppies fast asleep | H |

| We stroked them trembling for we knew | J |
| that somewhere in the forest dim | K |
| there lurked amid the gathering shades | L |
| the gaunt old mother fierce and grim | K |

| The dry leaves rustled back we sped | M |
| to where the homelight beckoned warm | N |
| to supper time and Mother's smile | O |
| and nestling near her safe from harm | P |

| We thrilling gazed into the night | Q |
| where twinkling stars rose high and dim | K |
| above the darksome scrub where lurked | R |
| the dingo mother fierce and grim | K |
