A Letter From Palestine Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEEFF GGCCHHCC

A letter from The East it came todayA
And all the house is lightened of its gloomB
A sun browned desert wind through every roomB
Eddies and bring strange scents of old bazaareC
Of orange groves beneath the dreaming starsD
O er far Jerusalem Through these ordered roomsE
Where poppies glow and pale narcissi bloomsE
Nod in tall vases sings the desert breezeF
Telling of brown battalion overseasF
-
Khaki clad soldiers singing as they goG
Along the road to Gaza and we knowG
The very breath of freedom s in the airC
With their gay boast Australia will be thereC
Mateship and courage loyalty and truthH
The very essence of Australian youthH
We have no fears serene in faith we prayC
For those dear gallant lads so far awayC
