A Dream Of Heaven Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB ADED FGHG IJIJ KLHL

They tell of harps and golden crowns and singingA
But oh I think when ends the strife and painB
That our dear Lord will lead the souls that love HimC
Where are green grass and trees and soft spring rainB
-
Where are no scorching suns or skies drought blazingA
But dear grey clouds with sunshine stealing throughD
In level rays o er distant wooded valleysE
And still green pools with waterlilies blueD
-
And those who sought to save drought ridden creaturesF
And struggled bravely with the grim old earthG
The God of all true hearts will surely give themH
Rest from their labours in a new world s birthG
-
When they shall feel the fresh wind in their facesI
Fragrant with clover scents and summer showerJ
And they shall praise Him in green silent placesI
Who like St Francis loved each tree and flowerJ
-
Who sae their God in all the changing seasonsK
And never failed or flinched or Faith deniedL
For evermore their loving Lord shall lead themH
Where are green woods and rolling pastures wideL
