The Promise Of The Hawthorn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFGHH

Spring sleeps and stirs and trembles with desireA
Pure as a babe's that nestles toward the breastB
The world as yet an all unstricken lyreC
With all its chords alive and all at restB
Feels not the sun's hand yet but feels his breathD
And yearns for love made perfect Man and birdE
Thrilled through with hope of life that casts out deathD
Wait with a rapturous patience till his wordE
Speak heaven and flower by flower and tree by treeF
Give back the silent strenuous utterance EarthG
Alive awhile and joyful as the seaF
Laughs not aloud in joy too deep for mirthG
Presageful of perfection of delightH
Till all the unborn green buds be born in whiteH
