The Channel Tunnel: Sonnets Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBABBBBBB

NOT for less love all glorious France to theeA
Sweet enemy called in days long since at endB
Now found and hailed of England sweeter friendB
Bright sister of our freedom now being freeA
Not for less love or faith in friendship weA
Whose love burnt ever toward thee reprehendB
The vile vain greed whose pursy dreams portendB
Between our shores suppression of the seaA
Not by dull toil of blind mechanic artB
Shall these be linked for no man s force to partB
Nor length of years and changes to divideB
But union only of trust and loving heartB
And perfect faith in freedom strong to abideB
And spirit at one with spirit on either sideB
