John Webster: Vii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACCDEED

THUNDER the flesh quails and the soul bows downA
Night east west south and northward very nightB
Star upon struggling star strives into sightB
Star after shuddering star the deep storms drownA
The very throne of night her very crownA
A man lays hand on and usurps her rightB
Song from the highest of heaven s imperious heightB
Shoots as a fire to smite some towering townA
Rage anguish harrowing fear heart crazing crimeC
Make monstrous all the murderous face of TimeC
Shown in the spheral orbit of a glassD
Revolving Earth cries out from all her gravesE
Frail on frail rafts across wide wallowing wavesE
Shapes here and there of child and mother passD
