TO MY BEST FRIENDA
-
THEODORE WATTSB
-
I DEDICATE IN THIS BOOKC
-
THE BEST I HAVE TO GIVE HIMD
-
Spring speaks again and all our woods are stirredE
And all our wide glad wastes aflower aroundF
That twice have heard keen April's clarion soundF
Since here we first together saw and heardE
Spring's light reverberate and reiterate wordE
Shine forth and speak in season Life stands crownedF
Here with the best one thing it ever foundF
As of my soul's best birthdays dawns the thirdE
-
There is a friend that as the wise man saithG
Cleaves closer than a brother nor to meH
Hath time not shown through days like waves at strifeI
This truth more sure than all things else but deathG
This pearl most perfect found in all the seaH
That washes toward your feet these waifs of lifeI
-
