Ben Jonson: Iii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CCDEED

BROAD BASED broad fronted bounteous multiformA
With many a valley impleached with ivy and vineB
Wherein the springs of all the streams run wineB
And many a crag full faced against the stormA
The mountain where thy Muse s feet made warmA
Those lawns that revelled with her dance divineB
Shines yet with fire as it was wont to shineB
From tossing torches round the dance aswarmA
-
Nor less high stationed on the grey grave heightsC
High thoughted seers with heaven s heart kindling lightsC
Hold converse and the herd of meaner thingsD
Knows or by fiery scourge or fiery shaftE
When wrath on thy broad brows has risen and laughedE
Darkening thy soul with shadow of thunderous wingsD
