Ave Atque Vale: 14 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCDEEDE

Therefore he too now at thy soul's sunsettingA
God of all suns and songs he too bends downB
To mix his laurel with thy cypress crownB
And save thy dust from blame and from forgettingA
Therefore he too seeing all thou wert and artC
Compassionate with sad and sacred heartC
Mourns thee of many his children the last deadD
And hallows with strange tears and alien sighsE
Thine unmelodious mouth and sunless eyesE
And over thine irrevocable headD
Sheds light from the under skiesE
