Armand Barbes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACCDEDD FGGFFGGFHIHHII

Fire out of heaven a flower of perfect fireA
That where the roots of life are had its rootB
And where the fruits of time are brought forth fruitB
A faith made flesh a visible desireA
That heard the yet unbreathing years respireA
And speech break forth of centuries that sit muteB
Beyond all feebler footprint of pursuitB
That touched the highest of hope and went up higherA
A heart love wounded whereto love was lawC
A soul reproachless without fear or flawC
A shining spirit without shadow of shameD
A memory made of all men's love and aweE
Being disembodied so thou be the sameD
What need O soul to sign thee with thy nameD

All woes of all men sat upon thy soulF
And all their wrongs were heavy on thy headG
With all their wounds thy heart was pierced and bledG
And in thy spirit as in a mourning scrollF
The world's huge sorrows were inscribed by rollF
All theirs on earth who serve and faint for breadG
All banished men's all theirs in prison deadG
Thy love had heart and sword hand for the wholeF
This was my day of glory didst thou sayH
When by the scaffold thou hadst hope to climbI
For thy faith's sake they brought thee respite NayH
I shall not die then I have missed my dayH
O hero O our help O head sublimeI
Thy day shall be commensurate with timeI
