After The Verdict Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBABBCDCD

France cloven in twain by fire of hell and hateA
Shamed with the shame of men her meanest bornB
Soldier and judge whose names inscribed for scornB
Stand vilest on the record writ of fateA
Lies yet not wholly vile who stood so greatA
Sees yet not all her praise of old outwornB
Not yet is all her scroll of glory tornB
Or left for utter shame to desecrateA
High souls and constant hearts of faithful menB
Sustain her perfect praise with tongue and penB
Indomitable as honour Storms may tossC
And soil her standard ere her bark win homeD
But shame falls full upon the Christless crossC
Whose brandmark signs the holy hounds of RomeD
