A Cameo Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBCDEADEA

THERE WAS a graven image of DesireA
Painted with red blood on a ground of goldB
Passing between the young men and the oldB
And by him Pain whose body shone like fireA
And Pleasure with gaunt hands that grasped their hireA
Of his left wrist with fingers clenched and coldB
The insatiable Satiety kept holdB
Walking with feet unshod that pashed the mireC
The senses and the sorrows and the sinsD
And the strange loves that suck the breasts of HateE
Till lips and teeth bite in their sharp indentureA
Followed like beasts with flap of wings and finsD
Death stood aloof behind a gaping grateE
Upon whose lock was written PeradventureA
