The Sisters Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDBEEB FGBHHB IIBCCB JJBKKB HHBLLB

We were two daughters of one raceA
She was the fairest in the faceA
The wind is blowing in turret and treeB
They were together and she fellC
Therefore revenge became me wellC
O the earl was fair to seeB
-
She died she went to burning flameD
She mix'd her ancient blood with shameD
The wind is howling in turret and treeB
Whole weeks and months and early and lateE
To win his love I lay in waitE
O the earl was fair to seeB
-
I made a feast I bade him comeF
I won his love I brought him homeG
The wind is roaring in turret and treeB
And after supper on a bedH
Upon my lap he laid his headH
O the earl was fair to seeB
-
I kiss'd his eyelids into restI
His ruddy cheek upon my breastI
The wind is raging in turret and treeB
I hated him with the hate of hellC
But I loved his beauty passing wellC
O the earl was fair to seeB
-
I rose up in the silent nightJ
I made my dagger sharp and brightJ
The wind is raving in turret and treeB
As half asleep his breath he drewK
Three times I stabb'd him thro' and thro'K
O the earl was fair to seeB
-
I curl'd and comb'd his comely headH
He look'd so grand when he was deadH
The wind is blowing in turret and treeB
I wrapt his body in the sheetL
And laid him at his mother's feetL
O the earl was fair to seeB
