The charge of the gallant three hundred the HeavyB
BrigadeC
Down the hill down the hill thousands of RussiansD
Thousands of horsemen drew to the valley andE
stayedC
For Scarlett and Scarlett's three hundred were riding byA
When the points of the Russian lances arose in the skyA
And he called Left wheel into line and they wheeledF
and obeyedC
Then he looked at the host that had halted he knewG
not whyA
And he turned half round and he bad his trumpeterH
soundI
To the charge and he rode on ahead as he wavedJ
his bladeC
To the gallant three hundred those glory will neverH
fadeC
Follow and up the hill up the hill up the hillK
Followed the Heavy BrigadeC

The trumpet the gallop the charge and the mightL
of the fightL
Thousands of horsemen had gathered there on theM
heightL
With a wing pushed out to the left and a wing to theM
rightL
And who shall escape if they close but he dashed upN
aloneO
Through the great gray slope of menP
Swayed his sabre and held his ownO
Like an Englishman there and thenP
All in a moment followed with forceQ
Three that were next in their fiery courseQ
Fought for their lives in the narrow gap they had madeC
Four amid thousands and up the hill up the hillK
Galloped the gallant three hundred the Heavy BrigadeC

Fell like a cannonshotC
Burst like a thunderboltC
Crashed like a hurricaneR
Broke through the mass from belowS
Drove through the midst of the foeS
Plunged up and down to and foeS
Rode flashing blow upon blowS
Brave Inniskillens and GreysQ
Whirling their sabres in circles of lightC
And some of us all in amazeQ
Who were held for a while from the fightC
And were only standing at gazeQ
When the dark muffled Russian crowdC
Folded its wings from the left and the rightC
And rolled them around like a cloudC
O mad for the charge and the battle were weB
When our own good redcoats sank from sightC
Like drops of blood in a dark gray seaB
And we turned to each other whispering whisperingT
all dismayedC
Lost are the gallant three hundred of Scarlett sQ
BrigadeC

Lost one and all were the wordsQ
Muttered in our dismayU
But they rode like Victors and LordsQ
Through the forest of lances and swordsQ
In the heart of the Russian hordesQ
They rode or they stood at bayU
Struck with the sword hand and slewG
Down with the bridle hand drewG
The foe from the saddle and threwG
Underfoot there in the frayU
Ranged like a storm or stood like a rockV
In the wave of a stormy dayU
Till suddenly shock upon shockV
Staggered the mass from withoutC
Drove it in wild disarrayU
For our men gallopt up with a cheer and a shoutC
And the foeman surged and wavered and reeledC
Up the hill up the hill up the hill out of the fieldC
And over the brow and awayU

-
Glory to each and to all and the charge that they madeC
Glory to all the three hundred and to all the BrigadeC
