St. Agnes' Eve Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEF GHGHIJIJKLKL MNMNOPOPJQJQ

Deep on the convent roof the snowsA
Are sparkling to the moonB
My breath to heaven like vapour goesA
May my soul follow soonB
The shadows of the convent towersC
Slant down the snowy swardD
Still creeping with the creeping hoursC
That lead me to my LordD
Make Thou my spirit pure and clearE
As are the frosty skiesF
Or this first snowdrop of the yearE
That in my bosom liesF
-
As these white robes are soil'd and darkG
To yonder shining groundH
As this pale taper's earthly sparkG
To yonder argent roundH
So shows my soul before the LambI
My spirit before TheeJ
So in mine earthly house I amI
To that I hope to beJ
Break up the heavens O Lord and farK
Thro' all yon starlight keenL
Draw me thy bride a glittering starK
In raiment white and cleanL
-
He lifts me to the golden doorsM
The flashes come and goN
All heaven bursts her starry floorsM
And strows her lights belowN
And deepens on and up the gatesO
Roll back and far withinP
For me the Heavenly Bridegroom waitsO
To make me pure of sinP
The sabbaths of EternityJ
One sabbath deep and wideQ
A light upon the shining seaJ
The Bridegroom with his brideQ
