Show-day At Battle Abbey, 1876 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEFDE

A garden here May breath and bloom of springA
The cuckoo yonder from an English elmB
Crying 'with my false egg I overwhelmB
The native nest ' and fancy hears the ringA
Of harness and that deathful arrow singA
And Saxon battleaxe clang on Norman helmB
Here rose the dragon banner of our realmB
Here fought here fell our Norman slander'd kingA
O Garden blossoming out of English bloodC
O strange hate healer Time We stroll and stareD
Where might made right eight hundred years agoE
Might right ay good so all things make for goodF
But he and he if soul be soul are whereD
Each stands full face with all he did belowE
