Kate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCBBDEFDEFGHGH IJKJIJLKKJLGG

I know her by her angry airA
Her bright black eyes her bright black hairA
Her rapid laughters wild and shrillB
As laughters of the woodpeckerC
From the bosom of a hillB
'Tis Kate she sayeth what she willB
For Kate hath an unbridled tongueD
Clear as the twanging of a harpE
Her heart is like a throbbing starF
Kate hath a spirit ever strungD
Like a new bow and bright and sharpE
As edges of the scimitarF
Whence shall she take a fitting mateG
For Kate no common love will feelH
My woman soldier gallant KateG
As pure and true as blades of steelH
-
Kate saith 'the world is void of might '-
Kate saith 'the men are gilded flies '-
Kate snaps her fingers at my vowsI
Kate will not hear of lovers' sighsJ
I would I were an armed knightK
Far famed for well won enterpriseJ
And wearing on my swarthy browsI
The garland of new wreathed empriseJ
For in a moment I would pierceL
The blackest files of clanging fightK
And strongly strike to left and rightK
In dreaming of my lady's eyesJ
O Kate loves well the bold and fierceL
But none are bold enough for KateG
She cannot find a fitting mateG
