In Memoriam A. H. H.: 82. I Wage Not Any Feud With Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEEFGHHG IJJI

I wage not any feud with DeathA
For changes wrought on form and faceB
No lower life that earth's embraceB
May breed with him can fright my faithC
Eternal process moving onD
From state to state the spirit walksE
And these are but the shatter'd stalksE
Or ruin'd chrysalis of oneF
Nor blame I Death because he bareG
The use of virtue out of earthH
I know transplanted human worthH
Will bloom to profit otherwhereG
-
For this alone on Death I wreakI
The wrath that garners in my heartJ
He put our lives so far apartJ
We cannot hear each other speakI
