In Memoriam A. H. H.: 78. Again At Christmas Did We Weave Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCA DEED FGGF HIIH JKKJ

Again at Christmas did we weaveA
The holly round the Christmas hearthB
The silent snow possess'd the earthC
And calmly fell our Christmas eveA
-
The yule log sparkled keen with frostD
No wing of wind the region sweptE
But over all things brooding sleptE
The quiet sense of something lostD
-
As in the winters left behindF
Again our ancient games had placeG
The mimic picture's breathing graceG
And dance and song and hoodman blindF
-
Who show'd a token of distressH
No single tear no mark of painI
O sorrow then can sorrow waneI
O grief can grief be changed to lessH
-
O last regret regret can dieJ
No mixt with all this mystic frameK
Her deep relations are the sameK
But with long use her tears are dryJ
