In Memoriam A. H. H.: 44. How Fares It With The Happy Dead? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFE GHHG

How fares it with the happy deadA
For here the man is more and moreB
But he forgets the days beforeB
God shut the doorways of his headA
The days have vanish'd tone and tintC
And yet perhaps the hoarding senseD
Gives out at times he knows not whenceD
A little flash a mystic hintC
And in the long harmonious yearsE
If Death so taste Lethean springsF
May some dim touch of earthly thingsF
Surprise thee ranging with thy peersE
-
If such a dreamy touch should fallG
O turn thee round resolve the doubtH
My guardian angel will speak outH
In that high place and tell thee allG
