In Memoriam A. H. H.: 15. To-night The Winds Begin To Rise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFE GHHG EIIE

To night the winds begin to riseA
And roar from yonder dropping dayB
The last red leaf is whirl'd awayB
The rooks are blown about the skiesA
The forest crack'd the waters curl'dC
The cattle huddled on the leaD
And wildly dash'd on tower and treeD
The sunbeam strikes along the worldC
And but for fancies which averE
That all thy motions gently passF
Athwart a plane of molten glassF
I scarce could brook the strain and stirE
-
That makes the barren branches loudG
And but for fear it is not soH
The wild unrest that lives in woeH
Would dote and pore on yonder cloudG
-
That rises upward always higherE
And onward drags a labouring breastI
And topples round the dreary westI
A looming bastion fringed with fireE
