As being past away Vain sympathies | B |
For backward Duddon as I cast my eyes | C |
I see what was and is and will abide | A |
Still glides the Stream and shall not cease to glide | A |
The Form remains the Function never dies | C |
While we the brave the mighty and the wise | C |
We Men who in our morn of youth defied | A |
The elements must vanish be it so | D |
Enough if something from our hands have power | E |
To live and act and serve the future hour | E |
And if as toward the silent tomb we go | D |
Through love through hope and faith's transcendent dower | F |
We feel that we are greater than we know | D |
