Fancy's Knell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFEF ECEGHIHI EJEJEKEK KLKLCKCK EBEBKMKN

When lads were home from labourA
At Abdon under CleeB
A man would call his neighborC
And both would send for meD
And where the light in lancesE
Across the mead was laidF
There to the dancesE
I fetched my flute and playedF
-
Ours were idle pleasuresE
Yet oh content we wereC
The young to wind the measuresE
The old to heed the airG
And I to lift with playingH
From tree and tower and steepI
The light delayingH
And flute the sun to sleepI
-
The youth toward his fancyE
Would turn his brow of tanJ
And Tom would pair with NancyE
And Dick step off with FanJ
The girl would lift her glancesE
To his and both be muteK
Well went the dancesE
At evening to the fluteK
-
Wenlock Edge was umberedK
And bright was Abdon BurfL
And warm between them slumberedK
The smooth green miles of turfL
Until from grass and cloverC
The upshot beam would fadeK
And England overC
Advanced the lofty shadeK
-
The lofty shade advancesE
I fetch my flute and playB
Come lads and learn the dancesE
And praise the tune to dayB
To morrow more's the pityK
Away we both must hieM
To air the dittyK
And to earth IN
