Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJKJLMLN OPOPQR R

Not to exult in braggart veinA
Over a gallant foeB
Or boast of triumphs on the mainA
The Gods alone bestowB
Vainglorious clarion clamorous drumC
For which the vulgar craveD
Not these not any such becomeC
The Wardens of the WaveD
-
No but when slumbering war dogs wakeE
To the last gasp of breathF
Face combat for one's Country's sakeE
With male disdain of deathF
For this did Nelson live and dieG
Far from his Land and homeH
Making his roof tree of the skyG
His pillow on the foamH
-
And if our race to day recallI
His last triumphant doomJ
Place wreaths on his unfading pallK
And flowers upon his tombJ
'Tis to remind us still to keepL
Aggression's lust in aweM
And with dominion of the deepL
Guard Freedom Peace and LawN
-
And not alone upon the wavesO
That sentinel our shoreP
Service that disciplines not enslavesO
Should rule us as of yoreP
So that our Island CitadelQ
May tranquilly respondR
With the calm signal All is well ''-
To every Sea BeyondR
