To England Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

Men deemed thee fallen did they fallen like RomeA
Coiled into self to foil a Vandal throngB
Not wholly shorn of strength but vainly strongB
Weaned from thy fame by a too happy homeA
Scanning the ridges of thy teeming loamA
Counting thy flocks humming thy harvest songB
Callous because thyself secure 'gainst wrongB
Behind the impassable fences of the foamA
The dupes Thou dost but stand erect and loC
The nations cluster round and while the hordeD
Of wolfish backs slouch homeward to their snowC
Thou 'mid thy sheaves in peaceful seasons storedD
Towerest supreme victor without a blowC
Smilingly leaning on thy undrawn swordD
