Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEFEGHHHIJCould you but give me all that I desire | A |
I should be richer and you no more poor | B |
Companionship beside the household fire | A |
And common cares that train one to endure | C |
'Tis not your senses but your self I want | D |
Kinship of vision sympathy of mind | E |
That so the bond be based on adamant | F |
And Love made fast by sanctities that bind | E |
Yet do not think insensible my gaze | G |
To delicate loveliness of form and face | H |
But that I covet in the same embrace | H |
The Spirit's yearnings with the body's grace | H |
Give me all these and add with lengthening years | I |
The sweet sad smile and piety of tears | J |
