Nocturnal Vigils Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBAACCAAD

Why do you chide me that when mortals yieldA
To slumber's charm from sleep I ask no boonB
But from my casement watch the maim d moonB
Fainting behind her ineffectual shieldA
Unto the chime by stately planets pealedA
My song my soul my very self attuneB
And nightly see what none can see at noonB
The runic volume of the sky unsealedA
Haply the hour may come when grateful NightA
Will these brief vigils endlessly repayC
And on the dwindling of my earthly dayC
Keep like her stars my heavenly fancies brightA
And glorious dreamings shrouded now from sightA
Dawn out of darkness not to sleep for ayeD
