| The spoils of victory from those that fly | D |
| Thus when as though surrendered to the Night | E |
| Men's spirits sleep shall wakeful Freedom burst | F |
| With piercing ray even here and flood with light | E |
| Each skulking nook by loutish custom curst | E |
| But in the glow of victory will spare | G |
| Turning all ill to good all foul to fair | G |
