Look Up, Desponding Hearts! See, Morning Sallies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEEGGLook up desponding hearts See Morning sallies | A |
From out her tents behind the screening hill | B |
And speeds her glittering lances on the valleys | A |
Where hostile mists unconscious slumber still | B |
Roused from their vain security they clamber | C |
Up the far slopes and seek the open sky | D |
Till hill and dale are tinged with gold and amber | C |
The spoils of victory from those that fly | D |
Thus when as though surrendered to the Night | E |
Men's spirits sleep shall wakeful Freedom burst | F |
With piercing ray even here and flood with light | E |
Each skulking nook by loutish custom curst | E |
But in the glow of victory will spare | G |
Turning all ill to good all foul to fair | G |
