In Praise Of England Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKLKL KMKMNONO PQPQRSTS

From tangled brake and trellised bowerA
Bring every bud that blowsB
But never will you find the flowerA
To match an English roseB
It blooms with more than city graceC
Though rustic and apartD
It has a smile upon its faceC
And a dewdrop in its heartD
-
Though wide the goodly world aroundE
Your fancy may have strayedF
Where was the woman ever foundE
To match an English maidF
At work she smiles through play she singsG
She doubts not nor deniesH
She'll cling to you as woodbine clingsG
And love you till she diesH
-
If you would put it to the proofI
Then round the zodiac roamJ
But never will you find the roofI
To match an English homeJ
You hear the sound of children's feetK
Still pattering on the stairL
'Tis made by loving labour sweetK
And sanctified by prayerL
-
Go traverse tracts sublime or sweetK
Snow peak or scorched ravineM
But where will you the landscape meetK
To match an English sceneM
The hamlet hallowed by its spireN
The wildwood fresh with flowersO
Garden and croft and thorp and byreN
Gleaming through silvery showersO
-
Across the wave along the windP
Flutter and plough your wayQ
But where will you a Sceptre findP
To match the English SwayQ
Its conscience holds the world in aweR
With blessing or with banS
Its Freedom guards the Reign of LawT
And majesty of ManS
