Gleaners Of Fame Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

Hearken not friend for the resounding dinA
That did the Poet's verses once acclaimB
We are but gleaners in the field of fameB
Whence the main harvest hath been gathered inA
The sheaves of glory you are fain to winA
Long since were stored round many a household nameB
The reapers of the Past who timely cameB
And brought to end what none can now beginA
Yet in the stubbles of renown 'tis rightC
To stoop and gather the remaining earsD
And carry homeward in the waning lightC
What hath been left us by our happier peersD
So that befall what may we be not quiteC
Famished of honour in the far off yearsD
