Fontana Di Trevi Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABAB CDCDCD EBEBEB FDFDFD CGCGCG

Why do I sit within the spellA
Of eyes like thine who oft have knownB
What 'tis in Beauty's gaze to dwellA
And then to feel aloneB
Back be remitted to my cellA
Too lately near a throneB
-
What though the moon on Trevi's fountC
Whilst we together drink doth shineD
Can it the rural miles remountC
Or I subtract from mineD
Whilst Time hath scarce begun to countC
The pleasant paths of thineD
-
How vain to thus divide its waveE
It will not help to blend our ownB
Thy voice is gay but mine is graveE
As thine too will have grownB
In days when nought is left thee saveE
A half remembered toneB
-
The light that gilds my world no moreF
But only now just breaks on thineD
Thy shadows stretch all bright beforeF
Behind in darkness mineD
Leave me my unillumined shoreF
And in thy lustre shineD
-
Forth to thy Future gifted childC
Oh be it fair as thouG
As thy sweet tones and temper mildC
And cloudless as thy browG
And thou wilt then be reconciledC
That I am silent nowG
