An Autumn Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFGHHNow round red roofs stand russet stacks arow | A |
Homeward from gleaning in the stubbly wheat | B |
High overhead the harsh rook saileth slow | C |
And cupless acorns crackle 'neath your feet | B |
No breeze no breath veereth the oasthouse hoods | D |
Whence the faint smoke floats fragrantly away | E |
And in the distance the half hazy woods | D |
Glow with the barren glory of decay | E |
Vainly the bramble strives to drape the hedge | F |
Whose leafless gaps show many an empty nest | G |
The chill pool stagnates round the seeded sedge | F |
And as the sunset saddens in the west | G |
Funereal mist comes creeping down the dale | H |
And widowed Autumn weeps behind her veil | H |
